Convention Against Torture Scheme

Annual Report 2010 > 7. Staff

7.1 Staff number stands at 99 including 4 officers specifically assigned for Care or Protection representations, 11 officers and 3 secretaries specifically assigned for CAT Scheme cases. The increase was barely adequate to meet the routine demands on the Service. It provided no margin for dealing with any non routine events such as staff sickness or leave.

7.2 Review of remunerations of senior executives at the top three tiers had been conducted. It was concluded that the average total remuneration of each of the tiers was on par with that of the comparable rank in the civil service.

7.3 In view of the suspension of the Annual function since 2003 due to the budget constraints, annual staff dinner was instead hosted jointly by members of the Duty Lawyer Service Council and the Administrator out of their own personal funds for the staff of the Service since 2006.
