The Tel-Law Scheme provides recorded legal information on a wide range of legal topics through telephone. The tape record is only a brief introduction on the particular legal topic. Any person who intends to initiate legal action should first consult his own lawyer or consult the volunteer lawyer of the Free Legal Advice Scheme.

There are 81 topics available and they are divided into 9 groups:
(1) family law;
(2) land law, landlord and tenant;
(3) criminal law;
(4) employment law;
(5) commercial, banking and sales of goods;
(6) administrative and constitutional law;
(7) environmental law and tort;
(8) general legal information.

The Tel-Law Scheme is a fully computerized system and operates 24 hours. The telephone numbers of the Scheme are 2521 3333 and 2522 8018. One just dials either of the telephone number and follows the instructions to select the required tape.

The tapes are available in Cantonese, Putonghua and English.

The tapes are up-dated from time to time. You may wish to read the scripts which is shown in Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese and English.
